ACFAS Committees

AFCAS committees work to ensure the College meets its vision, mission and strategic initiatives. 

Annual Scientific Conference Committee
The Annual Scientific Conference Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of the Annual Meeting program and its related entities including exhibits, abstract presentations and poster exhibits. 

Consumer Education Committee
The Consumer Education Committee manages the development and distribution of information regarding foot and ankle conditions and treatments, for patients and the public.

Council for Journal Management
The Council for Journal Management manages and evaluates activities of the editor, section editors and publisher as specified in contracts and position descriptions. 

Council for Registry Management

Credentialing and Privileging Advisory Team
The Credentialing and Privileging Advisory Team advises the the Board of Directors and Health Policy Committee on credentialing and privileging matters facing the surgical specialty.

Education/Scientific Affairs Committee
The Education and Scientific Affairs Committee is responsible for refinement of current programming and the development of new programming specifically focused on the changing needs of the podiatric profession.

Fellowship Committee
The Fellowship Committee provides foot and ankle surgeons the ability to advance their training and further their specialization by creating an awareness of fellowships available to them and expands upon opportunities for fellowship training currently available to the foot and ankle surgeon. 

Health Policy Committee
The Health Policy Committee is responsible for reviewing ACFAS activities relating to scope of practice, hospital privileges, credentialing, peer review and appropriate forms of treatment.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for member recruitment and retention and ensuring member conformity to the ACFAS Bylaws.  

Post Graduate Affairs Committee
The Post Graduate Affairs Committee is responsible for programs and services to enhance residency education, residency programs, and serve residency directors.

Practice Management Committee
The Practice Management Committee develops effective approaches to foster positive relationships with the health insurance industry, government agencies and the health care community.  

Region Presidents Council
ACFAS Regions support the profession at the grassroots level. The 9 regions offer members the opportunity to connect through local seminars, meetings and labs.  

Research Committee
The Research/EBM Committee is responsible for administering the College's research grant programs and for identifying and stimulating research in those areas where documented clinical studies are lacking.

Surgical Skills Committee
The Surgical Skills Committee is responsible for development, site selection, implementation, and refinement of all surgical skills courses.

Fellowship Sponsorship Task Force
The Fellowship Sponsorship Task Force researches sponsorship opportunities and operational processes for provision of funds to ACFAS-Status Fellowship programs.  

Leadership Development Program Task Force
The Leadership Development Program Task Force is responsible for oversight of the Chris Mahaffey Leadership Development Program.  

Marketing and Communications Task Force
The Marketing and Communications Task Force works closely with the staff to assess, plan, and develop relevant member communications that supports a robust and engaged community of members.

Scientific Literature Review Task Force
The Scientific Literature Review Task Force oversees the SLR processes annually: solicitation of resident article reviewers; editing of journal article review submissions; posting of content to ACFAS.org.
