The ACFAS Nominations Committee is looking for the best and the brightest to serve on the ACFAS Board of Directors. Applications are due on September 30, 2026.
2026 Nominations and Election Key Dates
- September 30 – Candidate applications due
October 14 - Candidates notified whether or not they have been selected for a Nominating Committee interview.
**October 27 (evening) – candidate interviews with the Nominations Committee (**interviews will be 10/27 from 7-10pm Central)
By October 30 – Candidates notified whether or not they have been selected for the Board election slate.
December 2 - Election Opens
December 16 – Election Closes
The elected directors will be announced in early December and will start their term of service at the ACFAS 2027 Annual Scientific Conference in Orlando.

The distribution or exchange of any ACFAS election or campaign messaging, including social media posts, email messages, and private electioneering, during the general election process is strictly prohibited. Any candidate violating this policy will be disqualified. Board of Directors Overview
The ACFAS Board of Directors is composed of eleven Fellows. There are three open seats for the 2026–27 Board of Directors: one (1) one-year term and two (2) three-year terms. The elected directors will start their term of service at the ACFAS 2027 Annual Scientific Conference in Orlando, FL.
Directors are elected to govern strategically through four basic roles:
- Setting the College’s strategic vision, mission, and goals based on member survey input.
- Allocating financial and human resources to that support advancing the strategic plan.
- Empowering its committees, task forces, and staff to operate unencumbered within the framework of the College’s mission, strategic plan, and policies.
- Adopting professional policies and statements that will shape the future of the specialty and promote superior foot and ankle surgical outcomes.
While any Fellow is eligible to serve, the Nominating Committee is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate the following experience and leadership qualities:
ACFAS volunteer leadership experience, including service on committees or task forces; demonstrated leadership as a committee chair is preferred.
- Active engagement with the College, including attendance at recent Annual Scientific Conferences and other ACFAS programs and events.
- A clear and relevant vision for the future of the specialty and the College.
- Strategic and collaborative leadership, with a willingness to represent the broader membership and think strategically; must work effectively as part of a team.
- Professional independence and credibility, with the respect of colleagues across the specialty.
